NUTS ABOUT SCIENCE (NAS) offers science enrichment activities presented by teachers who love Science. Our STEM lessons align with Michigan Science Standards and NGSS. Through hands-on experiences we bring the joy of science to young minds and instill a love of learning that will last a lifetime.

Our Mission
We give students the opportunity to explore the world around them in a safe, fun and educational environment through a variety of science programs.

After School Science
Our After-School Science Enrichment program begins at the end of September and continues throughout the school year ending in June. Our after-school classes meet at your location for approximately 1.25 hours. Click on Learn More to visit the After School Science page.

Science Camps
We have two fun science camps planned this summer! First is CSI: STEM Academy – Become a Crime Scene Investigator! August 3rd-7th OR second Spark & Create Science & Art Camp August 10th-14th. Both camps are 1:00pm-3:30 pm at the Northville Art House. Click the Register button for more information!

Are you looking for science enrichment for your event? We offer many science presentations for people of all ages! Our scientists come to your location, bring all the amazingly fun science experiments, and clean up so well you will never know they were there!

In-School Science Adventures
Teachers - would you like to add more hands-on Science to your current curriculum? Our grade specific science adventures can help you do just that. In-School Science Adventures are aligned with Michigan Next Generation Science Standards, STEM focused and will spark a love of science in your students!

Our Story
NUTS ABOUT SCIENCE began in 2006 as a 5th grade fundraiser for Silver Springs Elementary school where Jennifer Price’s daughter was attending. Since then, Nuts About Science has grown to four instructors serving many schools and organizations.
High Standards
Working with Next Generation Science Standards, we have designed STEAM activities that meet the educational needs of your students. Each activity is taught with an emphasis on hands-on experiences and is aligned with Grade Level Content. Nuts About Science instructors are professionally trained and have a background in teaching Elementary or Secondary Science.

Our Instructors

Jennifer Price
Owner/Instructor
Jennifer created Nuts About Science in 2006 as a fundraiser for her daughter’s fifth grade graduation party. Since then Nuts About Science has grown to ten schools in Ann Arbor, Northville & Livonia. Jennifer received a B. S. in Aquatic Ecology from the University of Michigan and her teaching certificate from Eastern Michigan University. She loves to share her passion for science, especially environmental science, to students of all ages.

Elizabeth Nitz
Instructor
Elizabeth has been teaching with Nuts About Science since 2012. She earned a B. S. degree in Psychology from Michigan State and a Teaching Certificate from Eastern Michigan University. She has two daughters and along with her husband enjoy performing many at home science experiments. In her spare time Elizabeth loves to apply her knowledge of behavioral psychology by training her octopus and fish.

Michele Gradinscak
Instructor
Michele joined Nuts About Science in 2013 and has been a wonderful addition. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and has one beautiful daughter. Michele also teaches at the Detroit Science Center and loves to develop new and creative experiments.

Morgan Price
Instructor
Morgan has been involved with Nuts About science since we began in 2006 as a student helper. Now she is teaching at her elementary school, Silver Springs Elementary.

We're Nuts About Science!
Nuts About Science is looking for teacher scientists to join our team! Do you love teaching science? We are looking for teacher scientists to teach our hands-on science programs in elementary schools in Northville, Livonia and surrounding area. This position plays a key role in the Nuts About Science organization by interacting directly with elementary school employees, parents and children while representing Nuts About Science in a positive and professional manner. Hours are 3:00-5:30 pm, 2-4 days a week. Pay is $60 per class plus mileage over 20 miles roundtrip.
